I have released amavis-perl-7. Get it from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/amavis/
This release is not for the faint-hearted. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I may have done some stupid things that CAUSE MAIL LOSS!
Do not use this version unless you are familiar with perl and the
configuration of your favourite MTA! It seems to work fine here,
but it may not work for you. YOU ARE WARNED!

+ better instructions for use with postfix; thanks to Ralf Hildebrandt
and many others!
+ new: support for CAI InoculateIT/Linux virus scanner (Rainer Link)
+ new: support for TNEF encoded attachments; thanks to Doug Wilson for
accepting my feedback and updating Convert-TNEF.
+ bugfix: postfix' sendmail wrapper is now detected without expliticly
using --enable-postfix
+ new: configure option --with-amavisuser to specify the user id amavis
runs under
+ new: configure option --enable-debug option to enable/disable DEBUG
in the script
+ updated for MIME-tools 5.x
+ some changes to DEBUG and TESTING facilities; allows better scriptability
for testing; which leads to
+ a simply test suite: "make check" runs two email messages through
a TESTING-ified version of the script. One message is plain text,
the other has a MIME encoded attachment with a multiply encoded
version of the EICAR.COM virus scanner test pattern. Ideas for more
and better tests are welcome!
+ performance: folded two array variables into one; this should
reduce memory usage by about 20%.
After preliminary analysis, it seems that the MailTools package is
responsible for most of the memory allocation. Will need to investigate
further.
+ a step towards modularised configuration: only code for the actual
MTA detected is now added to the script. This reduces the size by
a few k, but don't exepect any speed improvements from this.
- still no support for postfix' new content filtering interface.
Not really priority right now, as it may be possible to use
amavis with macofida (untested, to my knowlegde).
A detailed ChangeLog is included in the distribution. Thanks for
