Subject: [DMANET] Open-source framework for solving MIPs
SYMPHONY VERSION 4.0 RELEASED
SYMPHONY (Single- or Multi-process Optimization over Networks) is an open-source
framework for implementing customized branch, cut, and price algorithms on a
wide variety of computing platforms, including single-processor, shared memory
multi-processor, and distributed memory multi-processor. SYMPHONY is designed
primarily for branch and cut algorithms, but also has limited support for column
generation.
There has been a significant amount of new development since the last version of
SYMPHONY was released, making version 4.0 more efficient and easier to use.
SYMPHONY now works out of the box as a generic MIP solver and makes full use of
the COIN-OR libraries for parsing MPS files, generating cuts, and interfacing to
most available LP solvers through the Open Solver Interface. SYMPHONY can also
read GMPL (a subset of AMPL) files using GLPK's parser. The solver may be
customized through the implementation of user functions that override SYMPHONY's
default behavior. A suite of applications that demonstrate various ways in which
SYMPHONY can be customized is now available. In addition, the SYMPHONY
documentation has been completely overhauled and updated.
For more information on SYMPHONY and to download the source code for both
SYMPHONY and the new suite of applications built using SYMPHONY, visit

questions or problems.
