ben kerneltrap.org'da soyle bir sey okudum. 28 Mayis tarihli bir haber:
"The last development kernel series was numbered 2.3, started on
May 11'th, 1999. The series got to 2.3.51 by March 10'th, 2000, then
jumped to 2.3.99-pre1 a few days later. The -pre series continued until
2.3.99-pre9, which was released on May 23'rd, 2000. Two days later, the
2.4.0-test1 kernel was released. This tree evolved up to 2.4.0-test12,
which was released on December 11'th, 2000. And finally, the first
official 2.4 kernel, 2.4.0, was released on January 4'th, 2001. Thus,
speaking historically, there's likely many months to go before we
see a release of the 2.6.0 stable kernel."
