Merhaba,
Iste burada! GNOME 2.4'e dogru giderken, GNOME listelerinde artik "GNOME
Nirvana" yani GNOME masaustunun ve uygulama gelistirme platformunun
mukemmele yaklasmaya basladigi ve bundan sonraki adimin ne olabilecegi
konusunda tartismalar suruyor.
GNOME 2.4 gercekten de cok kisa sure icerisinde dagitimlarin yakin
gelecekte duyurulmasi muhtemel surumlerindeki muhtemel populer masaustu
ortami olacak. Yeni masaustu ortamimiz gelistirilmis erisilebilirlik
(accessibility -- a11y) ve kullanilabilirlik (usability) ozellikleri[5]
sayesinde artik cok daha anlasilir, cok daha kullanisli ve cok
daha-iyi[2] gorunuyor[1].
Simdi asil konuya gelelim, GNOME 2.4'de Turkce destegi yeterli asamada
degil ve yerellestirme calismalarina hizli bir destege gereksinim var.
Bu konu ile ilgili tartismalar gnome-turk@gnome.org listesinde suruyor
ve bu aralar Gorkem Cetin[4] tarafindan koordine ediliyor.
Eger bir GNU projesine destek vermek ve Turkce'nin teknik konularda daha
yaygin kullanim alani bulabilmesine destek saglamak istiyorsaniz;
Ingilizce de biliyorsaniz yerellestirme calismalari iyi bir baslangic
olacaktir. Neler gerekli (daha dogrusu "neler iyi olur")?
* Sisteminize GNOME 2.2 veya daha yeni bir surum kurun ve
ingilizce olarak kullanmaya baslayin.
* Kisa bir sure kullanin ve ekrandaki nesnelerin tam olarak neleri
temsil ettiklerini kapsayan terminolojiye alisin.
* gtranslator[6] yazilimini sisteminize kurun ve biraz kurcalayin.
* Listeye uyelik[7] adresinden gnome-turk listesine uye olun ve
yardima hazir oldugunuzu belirtin, sizinle temas kuracagiz ve
birlikte neler yapabilecegimize bir bakacagiz :-)

It is time for GNOME TWO POINT FOUR DESKTOP AND DEVELOPER PLATFORM BETA TWO!
(aka, GNOME 2.4 D&DP Beta 2.)
Tarballs are due by the end of Monday, 25th August 2003, for release to the
teeming masses of fascinated users, indomitable testers, Swedish FTP mirror
clusters, space tourists, marauding Mongolians, fearless translators, online
tech pundits, siblings and parents of hackers everywhere [1] and Californian
gubernatorial candidates on Wednesday.
As announced, CODE FREEZE will be IN EFFECT as of Beta 2. The release team
has paid a tidy sum to Cpt. D. Camp of Boston, MA for the use of his 70's
era, purple-velvet-lined Orbital Laser Battery Platform, and we are NOT
AFRAID to use it. Except maybe when Luis and Andrew get their hands on the
controls and threaten to decimate bugs with laser precision. But even lasers
won't bust through the CODE FREEZE!
Make no mistake about it: GNOME 2.4 D&DP will ROCK the Pentre Ifan!
