If there are people who want to maintain their packages and add new
features to them in the 2007.x branch, why shouldn't they?

I for example don't want to "kill" the 2007.x branch so early.

It may (emphasis on the -may-) be reasonable to freeze libraries and
such dependant packages for new features but it certainly isn't for
independant packages where updating them wouldn't affect any other
packages (in the case of x-moto).

A new product (2008) on the way shouldn't mean that we should abandon
another.

(and why are we writing in English?)
