WIT & WISDOM

* Bad habits are like comfortable beds--easy to get into, but hard to get out of.
* Why do scientists call it research when they're looking for something new?
* If you look like your passport photo you need the trip.
* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
* Fortune does not change men it unmasks them.

TRIVIA

* The deepest of the five Great Lakes is Lake Superior. Its lowest point is 1332 feet deep, almost enough to submerge the Sears Tower.
* The hottest days of summer were named "the dog days" by people in the Mediterranean regions, where the hottest days occurred near the time of year of the conjunction of Sirius, the dog star, and the Sun.
* In 1968, Douglas C. Engelbart invented the "X-Y Position for a Display System", which is a prototype for the computer mouse. It was not popularized until Apple used it in 1984.
* In October 1994, Jeff Bezos wanted to name his new Web venture "Cadabra" as in "abracadabra." But his attorney convinced him that this magical moniker sounded a bit too much like "cadaver." He end up naming it Amazon.com.
* What do Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, and Dostoyevsky have in common? They all had epilepsy.
