(BiLCEM) has an opening for a computer systems administrator (computer
specialist).

BiLCEM has a dynamic environment, where state-of-the-art computing
technologies are utilized to solve very-large-scale numerical
electromagnetics problems that have important real-life applications, such as
radars, antennas, cell phones, satellites, lasers and optical systems, to
name a few. Solutions of such complicated but ultimately useful problems
require the use of powerful computers. Parallel computing and construction
of parallel computer clusters are important areas of research at BiLCEM.
BiLCEM has several computing platforms, including two 136-core and 64-core
Intel Xeon clusters, a 16-core AMD Opteron cluster, a number of 8-core
clusters, and a multitude of various PCs in its Cyberpark and EEE offices at

www.cem.bilkent.edu.tr. A candidate for the "computer systems administrator"
should be a computer and technology guru with essential education and
experience. This computer specialist will be expected to undertake the
following tasks:
1. Administration of Linux, Windows, and Unix computer systems
2. Parallel computing: setting up parallel computers, MPI, parallel
programming
3. Maintain hardware
4. Market search and purchasing of new hardware and software
5. Install and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems
6. Purchasing, installing, and maintaining of commercial programs
7. Downloading, installing, and maintaining of freeware programs
8. Data storage and backup
9. Programming in Fortran, C, C++, MATLAB
10. Web page preparation at the basic level (professional-level web page
design is a plus, but not necessary)
11. Networking (set up and maintain Ethernet and wireless networks)
12. Network security, firewalls
13. Data security (anti-virus and restricted access)
14. Set up and maintain shared file systems
15. Keeping computer inventory
 
Knowledge of the following tasks is not mandatory, however, will serve as a
plus for the candidate:
16. Prior experience with programming in accordance with military
standards and other quality standards.
17. Experience with CAD software (such as, I-DEAS, ProEngineer, Nastran,
AutoCAD)
18. Professional-level web page design and implementation

explains the candidate’s education and experience (separately) for each item
in the above, such as courses taken (attach transcripts), projects completed,
etc.
Competitive salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications will be
offered. The offer letter will clearly indicate the actual salary. The

bakımından en yeni bilişim olanakları (özellikle, paralel bilgisayar
sistemleri) kullanılmaktadır.
