advanced fax solutions, today announced that a Linux version of its flagship
product LightningFAX is slated for general release in March. A beta release
is currently available on the Interstar Technologies web site. LightningFAX
is an award-winning enterprise fax solution that gives businesses the power
to fax-enable their entire network, allowing users to send and receive faxes
through their PC's and through almost any e-mail application.

Market research firm International Data Corporation recently found that
Linux accounted for 25% of all server operating systems installed in 1999.
This is a significant jump over the 1998 figure of 16%. IDC had projected
that the Linux server OS would be No. 2 worldwide only in 2002 or 2003.
Breathing down the neck of Windows NT, Linux achieved No. 2 status in 1999.
This is good news for companies that port enterprise server applications to
Linux, like Interstar Technologies has done with LightningFAX.
LightningFAX is a client/server network fax solution that lets users send
and receive faxes directly through their computers and through almost any
e-mail application. In addition to Linux, LightningFAX supports Windows NT,
IBM AIX and Sun Solaris. Available in English, French, Italian, German, and
Japanese, LightningFAX handles up to 960 lines per server and unlimited
users. The server database handles up to three million fax messages at a
time. LightningFAX supports Brooktrout, Dialogic/GammaLink and Natural
Microsystems fax boards, as well as a variety of standard fax modems.
Available modules include the Gateway modules, the ActiveX Toolkit, the API
Toolkit, and the SAP R/3 module.
The Linux-based LightningFAX server component supports Red Hat Linux 6.1 and
Dialogic/GammaLink CPi/400 and CPi/200 PCI fax boards. A Web-based Linux
client is available, but users can also opt for the Windows 95, 98 or NT
client.
