FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 8, 1998:
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES WEBCAST
OF GLOBAL LEARN DAY II

(Broadcast.com to Provide Hosting Services)

The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Global Education announced today that
it has selected Broadcast.com (Nasdaq: BCST) to host the webcast of
Global Learn Day II, a worldwide event held October 10 and 11.

This highly unusual conference will feature the leaders in distance
education and technology by way of a (virtual) ship which will "travel"
around the world with "stops" in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe
and the Americas. At each "port" the ship will be hosted by institutions
heavily involved in distance learning. From those "ports" live
presentations will be made which can be seen and heard by anyone,
over the Internet, with an "ordinary" computer, a later version browser
and an internet connection.

According to Linda Riddell, Director of Communications for the Institute,
Global Learn Day II "will be part expedition, part exhibition, part
experiment and all conference. It promises to be a Landmark event in
education history." More information can be found at
