This site lets both students and teachers interact with material on the
web, rather than just reading text. You must have the Macromedia Shockwave
Plug-in installed and use Netscape 2.0+ or greater).

Here are a few of the things you will find.

Inclined Plane - This lets you alter the initial velocity, mass, and
angle of a frictionless inclined plane.

Golf RANGE! - Lets you study the range equation in a "golf" like setting.

Air Track - The basic air track with two blocks. You can change the
coefficient of restitution, initial masses, and velocities.

Intro to Plasma - Learn a bit about plasma physics.

Sight vs. Sound Reflex - Test your response time to different inputs.

Ray Tracing - Explore simple ray tracing with a thin converging lens.

Enjoy,
Mike

Seven URLs For Girls
(04/22/98; 6:14 p.m. ET)
By Carolyn Jabs, HomePC

Great websites for girls are launching all
the time, but finding them can be tricky.
Typing "girls" into your search engine is
no help; it is likely to call up exactly the
kind of adult-content sites you hope your
daughter never stumbles across. The
sites listed below are a small sampling
of terrific places for girls to chat, play
games, get information, and hang out. All
have links to othergirl-friendly websites.

* Cyber Sisters: Founded in 1996 by two
teenage girls, this online club for ages 6
to 18 has a long list of members, an
active pen-pal program, and a monthly
newsletter.

http://www.worldkids.net/clubs/CSIS/csis.htm

* G.I.R.L.: An acronym for Girls
Internationally wRiting Letters, G.I.R.L.
links members (ages 8 to 14) with e-pals
all over the world. Also on the menu: a
newsletter and a variety of activities.

http://www.worldkids.net/girl/

* Girl Power: Run by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human
Services, this jam-packed site seeks to
promote confidence in girls 9 to 14.
Visitors will find useful tips,
biographies of successful women, and an
illustrated set of blank diary pages to
print.

http://www.health.org/gpower/

* Girls' Place: This site encourages
social awareness, with stories and
content that endorse positive behavior
and community participation.

http://www.girlsplace.com/

* Girl Tech: From advice on mending a
rift with your best friend to features on
women's pro basketball, Girl Tech has it
all -- including a much-needed
girl-friendly search engine.

http://www.girltech.com/

* gURL: At this lively site for teens 14
and up, topics range from "Dead women
you should know about" to frank
discussions on sexuality. A gallery
exhibits girls' artwork.

http://www.gurl.com/

* Smart Girl: Opinion polls and an area
in which to post reviews of computer
games, books, movies, and more, give
girls a forum to be heard on a variety of
subjects -- and to find out what others
have to say. Teens can get relationship
advice as well.

===============================================
>>>From eSchool News Staff Reports
>>> Microsoft's contributions to schools were to have been the
linchpin in a controversial, once-secret corporate image campaign.
The so-called "stealth" plan, obtained by reporters at the
L.A.Times, drew heated responses from attorneys general in 11
states who are considering legal action against Microsoft.

The plan, according to those who saw it, called for using
Microsoft's contributions to schools and libraries as a key means
of softening the company's flinty image...

Subject: SOFT> Intelligent Software for Web-based Recruitment

From: Brian Ludington [mailto:bal@uact.net]

CareerBridge's E-Cruiter 2.0 Offers Total "E-Cruitment" Solution
Intelligent Web-based software enables companies to have complete
control of business-critical recruitment processes

OTTAWA, ON, April 21, 1998 - CareerBridge Corporation announced the
release of E-Cruiter 2.0 (http://www.e-cruiter.com), their
second-generation Web-based software for global job posting, resume
handling and hiring workflow management. E-Cruiter 2.0 is designed to
give corporations new efficiencies in identifying, screening and hiring
skilled candidates.

"Companies need the best people to fill crucial positions and they need
them fast," said Gerry Stanton, President and CEO, CareerBridge.
"Deploying E-Cruiter 2.0 is a strategic decision; our customers get a
complete recruiting workflow solution blended with the tremendous
outreach and economies of the Internet. Posting jobs and screening
applicants takes a fraction of the time and budget of traditional methods."

E-Cruiter Online Software is a take-charge recruiting capability linked
behind the company Web site, with a seamless job application environment
for candidates and full security, reporting and system management
options. All this in a convenient online service -- no hardware or
software to purchase, install or support.

Global Posting Manager enables recruiters to Point-Click-Post a single
job advertisement to the company Web site and to an optimal combination
of career sites, news groups and various commercial Web sites. The
unique IntelliPost feature maps a job's skill requirements against a
huge catalogue of Internet sites and e-mail notification lists,
automatically creating a job-specific advertising strategy.

Applicant Workflow Center provides comprehensive screening and
intelligent scoring of job applicants. Recruiters and line managers
share resumes, screening results and notations in a collaborative
desktop environment, knocking days and weeks off the time required to
interview a short-list of applicants and make an offer.

The IntelliPost capability targets an individual job posting to the
right mix of career sites (including Career Mosaic, E-Span and
Positionwatch) as well as a selection of user groups, newsgroups and
commercial Web sites frequented by I.T. professionals with the specific
skills needed for the job.

While the enormous reach of the Global Posting Manager effectively
targets active job seekers, it is also particularly beneficial for
employers interested in tapping the wealth of the "hidden" labour
market. IntelliPost gives companies the specific outreach needed for
hard-to-fill positions, a reach that would otherwise require dedicated
resources to research and manage.

"In an increasingly aggressive market, our ability to quickly identify
and assess star candidates helps us maintain our competitive edge," said
Carol Sinclair, Director of Human Resources for AIT Corporation.
"CareerBridge's E-Cruiter solution has done that - and it significantly
reduces our hiring costs."

About CareerBridge
CareerBridge's Web-based e-cruitment solutions give applicants a virtual
alternative to pounding the pavement. The CareerBridge Web site
(http://www.careerbridge.com) receives more than 60,000 hits daily.
Individuals can post their resumes online and review a host of job
postings aimed specifically at their area of expertise, apply for the
jobs they want - even communicate confidentially with employers online.
Companies using E-Cruiter are able to post and revise positions on a
daily basis, screen qualified candidates quickly and easily and conduct
interviews online. The result - fewer expensive ads to run, an easier
and faster screening process, and less time to fill critical positions
with highly-skilled, quality people.

Founded by two successful Silicon Valley North entrepreneurs with more
than 50 years combined experience in recruiting, staffing and software
development, CareerBridge brings the power of the Internet to corporate
recruiting. Its fully interactive, easy-to-use and inexpensive service
is re-defining the way we place good people - in good jobs.

CareerBridge is currently focused in Ontario with plans to expand across
Canada. Their list of over 120 customers includes the likes of IBM
Canada, JetForm Corporation, Newbridge Networks, EDS, Entrust
Technologies and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
