Subject: Wanted: Linux admin for Yagmur cybercafe

Yagmur cybercafe is a new kind of full-service internet cafe that will open
in Tunel area December 1997. We are seeking for a part-time administrator
for its computer systems (below).

This job is ideal for a student, since it is more of free will for
development and availability in critical situations than a real job. It is
not as much sitting there and making backups as it is being available when
the automatic systems fail so that the cafe staff is not able to fix it.
User accounts, backups and restores will be handled by the cafe staff via
an easy user interface.

You will get a free account, a small amount of money monthly and a lot of
responsibility for being available, and an almost proper fee for real work
you do (system development/crisis solving). You should be able to
communicate in Turkish and English, at least, and have a quick learning
rate in unix administration, programming and scripting languages,
MS-Windows annoyances, LAN problem solving and internet security. Plus an
urge to do it The Right Way; read the Camel book for why.

- 1 x Red Hat 5.0 Linux/Intel server
- router/firewall between Internet and Local Area Network (LAN)
- mail server (sendmail)
- web server (Apache, Perl)
- SMB (aka LanManager, the MS-Windows network) server (Samba)
- user accounts
- fax modem (efax)
- Q1C 2GB tape backups
- 64kbps leased line Internet connection
- 64MB RAM/ 9 GB Disk/ Pentium 200 Mhz
- 1 x Red Hat 5.0 Linux/Intel secondary server
- printer server (Samba)
- cybercafe user account handling
- 6 x MS-Windows PCs as User Workstations
- MS-Office
- MS-Exploder + Nestcape Navigator
- Eudora
- Photoshop
- other programs
- games
- possibly a well-protected linux mode?
- LAN connectors for users' laptops

See you!
