- Linux acik bir isletim sistemidir, kaynak kodu, bir dagitimda beraber
gelen tum uygulamalari serbestce dagitilmaktadir.

- Eger herhangi birisi, 'bir' isletim sistemi ile bazi hizmetler
yurutuyorsa, bu hizmetlerinin devamini saglayabilmek icin sozkonusu isletim
sistemi konusunda bilgi sahibi olmalidir. Onemli olan verilen hizmetin
kisiler icin ne kadar onem tasidigidir. Buna bir kere karar verildikten
sonra o isi yurutmek icin harcanmasi gereken caba, emek (ve bu caba ve
emegin karsiligi) net olarak belirlenebilir.

- Guvenlik konusuna gelince, her isletim sisteminin zaman icerisinde
aciklari bulunmakta ve bu aciklara iliskin onlemler yaratilmaktadir. Hangi
isletim sistemini kullanirsaniz kullanin, guvenlige onem veriyorsaniz,
ilgili sistemi takip etmeli, guncellemelisiniz. Elbetteki fi tarihinden
kalan bir surumun mevcut bircok acigi veya yetersizligi bulunacaktir (yoksa
daha yeni surumleri olmazdi).

Soylemesi oldukca zor. Su anki guncel versiyonlardan benim
karsilastirdiklarim:

RedHat 4.1: Yeni baslayanlar icin mukemmel, surekli upgrade'leri
var, ama otomatik tool'lari bence bazen biraz sinir bozucu

Slackware3.2: Eski aliskanlik, zamaninin en cok kullanilan
dagitiminin yeni surumu (Nisan 97), RedHat'e gore kurulumu da
yonetimi de zor. Bu surum shadow olarak calisiyor

Debian1.2: Kurarken bayagi zorlandim.. Nedense bir turlu isinamadim.
Ozellike, net'den mirror alirken neler cektigimi... her neyse. :-)
Ancak yine guncel tutulan bir dagitim. Bu acidan Slackware'e gore
daha ustun

S.u.s.e ???
Ygdrassil ???
Caldera ???

Bu konuda tabii ki yetkili bir kaynak var

kesinlikle RedHat, yeni baslayanlar icin son derece kolay, yuklemesi,
konfigurasyonu vs.. en azindan diger dagitimlara gore karsilastigim en rahat
ve en sevimlisi. Ozellikle, binary paketler yuklemek icin kullandigi yazilim
(rpm ve glint) cok hos..
