Buyuk bir ihtimalle MV komutu ile xferlog un yerini degistirmissiniz.
Bu dogru yontem degil. (ayni sey syslog icinde gecerli)
sebebi ftpd ve syslogd inode lar uzerinden file a erisir.
yani file i mv ettiginizde inode degismedigi icin gittigi yerde file a
yazmaya calisir, gzip yapmadan mv etseydiniz file in yeni yerinde de
buyudugunu gorurdunuz.

soyle yapmalisiniz

cp xferlog oldlogs/xferlog.9608
rm xferlog
touch xferlog
gzip oldlogs/xferlogs.9608

kolay gelsin
yener
